When my friend Angie invited Tallulah and I to join her and her beautiful daughter Marley last season for the Elise Overlandfashion show here in NYC-I was so excited! It would be Tallulah’s first but this would be no ordinary show.
It would take place on ice and the bad boy of figure skating Johnny Weir would perform! I threw on a Rick Owens dress, kitted Tallulah out in Stella McCartney kids armed myself with my camera and we were off! I’d been a fan of Elise Overland since coveting a jacket that was photographed for the very cool indie magazine aWanted that my husband Michael had shot and Tallulah participated in called Car Life. At Angie’s house Tallulah full of wonderment watched as the girls got ready-sharing Teen Vogue doing each other’s hair, applying makeup and I got a rare glimpse of how my world with Tallulah will be in the not too distant future! Marley chose a black Zac Posen dress and in true spirit of the daughter of an edgy fashion mother she customized it with a white t-shirt and ripped tights! The show was theatrical, the collection was beautiful- we were all praying the girls wouldn’t slip on the ice which only added to the excitement! It was a memorable evening for Tallulah. Before she fell asleep that night she whispered to me “Oh mommy I’m going to dream of ice fairies!”
