This past week end we headed with friends to The Brooklyn Botanic Garden for the Sukara Matsuri, The Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival. 35,000 people came through the gates Sunday to enjoy the annual festivities which included Samurai Sword Drama, Sohenryu-Style Tea Ceremonies and Ikebana Flower arranging! The Cherry Blossom trees were at their peek! We headed straight for superstar Manga author and animator Misako Rocks for a Manga animation drawing class. A traditional Japanese lunch under the cherry Blossoms while listening to Soh Daiko drumming and jazz inspired folk songs followed by a performance by Funky tap dancer Kazu Kumagai in the Osborne Garden. Brooklyn Botanic Garden is open Tuesday through Sunday and is FREE on Tuesdays (all day) and Saturdays from 10-12noon!
