The doorbell keeps ringing and a fleet of designer packages keep coming. Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, Alice and Olivia… All vying to be chosen for Carmen’s Los Angeles Premiere of her new movie SPARKLE. We’re getting ready for tonight’s New York screening held by the Cinema Society in Downtown Manhattan. Hair and makeup are creating their magic on Carmen and Tallulah is flicking through the current issue of Ebony magazine-Carmen and her co stars Jordin Sparks and Tika Sumpter grace the cover. Tallulah falls in love with an iridescent blue Zac Posen dress with a mile long train which she climbs to dizzying heights just to hold on to it and her eyes widen as silver-sparkly Christian Louboutin sandals arrive! Carmen decides on a couture- like black Marc Jacobs dress and Brian Atwood fetish sandals for tonights screening. The car picks us up and we head over the bridge to Tribeca. There’s a real buzz over Sparkle-Whitney Houston’s last project before her tragic death. After the flurry of press we head to our seats. I squeeze Carmen’s hands as the lights go down. I laugh, I cry-I don’t think there was a dry eye in the cinema when Whitney sang His Eye Is On The Sparrow but most surprisingly I don’t recognize my closest friend up on screen. She has completely blown me away by her complete transformation into another human being. It was a beautiful-emotionally complex performance. I’m making a prediction-Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a musical for Carmen and the dizzying blue Zac Posen dress -will be perfect! Sparkle opens tonight-See it this weekend and fall in love with the three sisters as I did! You’ll be dancing down the aisles!
