We spent a warm day in Upstate New York with Gorgeous Victoria Secret model Lindsay Ellingson. Michael was shooting a grunge story-an homage to the early 90’s movement which was such an important part of my youth. So much of it was caught up in the music we were listening to- Nirvana, Pearl Jam…We scoured the vintage shops mining see-through tea dresses and vintage cheongsams (I still have mine) and paired them with heavy biker boots and threadbare leather jackets. Then Marc Jacobs (last collection) for Perry Ellis sent supermodels down the catwalk and grunge went from subculture to the masses and a fashion superstar was born. I still love mixing the super feminine with masculine utilitarianism. In fact its an absolute must! It was a great time-we retired our Azzedine Alaiaand returned to our slacker roots! You can imagine how over the moon I was when Carola the fashion editor asked if Tallulah could take part in the shoot! My very own Grunge baby!
The black and white photo (left) is taken from the Neo Grunge story that ran in Italian Elle. Tallulah was the first shot of the day so we were free to play-running through the fields exploring nature and taking lots of pictures! The big red barn housed all the glorious fashion and we were left alone eating grapes and mulling over the clothes in the sunshine snapping our favorites-a Christian Dior floral print tea dress dress with vintage inspired underwear- a black suede Gucci bag with heavy chain and ringed hardware. I have my eye on the Altuzarra grunge-influenced Fall 2011 collection with utility parkers and sexy dresses-and this weekend marks the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s album Nevermind-I think it’s time to revisit the grunge look only this time my lace up leather boots will have high heels!
